Stills from the play The Desecration of Don Juan at the Fernán Gómez Theater in Madrid An actress during the photo call and premiere of Juan Carlos Pérez’s play The Desecration of Don Juan on October 23, 2026, in Madrid, Spain. It premieres in Madrid as one of the season’s major highlights. This surrealist comedy, written and directed by Juan Mairena, recreates the irreverent version of Zorrilla’s *Don Juan Tenorio* that Luis Bunuel, Federico García Lorca, and Salvador Dalí conceived at the Residencia de Estudiantes in 1924. The production combines the avant-garde, the absurd, humor, and Freudian debates, while paying a profound tribute to the friendship of the Generation of ’27 and to female creators who remained in the shadows, such Copyright: xEduardoxParrax 7863697
